The Future of Design Contest has our first winner - Bree Richey of Bree Richey Designs (see Bree's work in the "SemiFinalist" menu link above)! Bree shares her feelings about the contest and her win in the Rapaport news video below (our coverage starts at 3:30):
Stay tuned to this website throughout the coming year as we update you on the progress of Bree, as well as our finalists Elizabeth Garvin and Jennifer Dawes and our semi-finalists David Heston, G&G Creations, and Patricia Tschetter!
Once again, the judges had an extremely challenging time deciding who the three finalists should be. All six of our semi-finalists are talented, driven, and will clearly make significant impact on jewelry design in the years to come (learn about all six of our semi-finalists by clicking the Semifinalist menu button above). Bree Richey (left) comes from a family of jewelry designers, but she found her passion for jewelry on her own when she attended the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts.
This was difficult.
Who knew that we would receive so many talented, impassioned, truly impressive applicants our first year? We thought judging would take us two weeks, tops, but here we are a full month later than we had planned, finally able to announce the six semi-finalists. You did not make it easy for us. Yet we found the process of considering each of your design collections and business analyses to be affirming, invigorating, truly inspiring. Thank you for that.
But in the end we are committed to choosing six who will progress. And so we did.
